And a glitching little domestic robot with one working eye and a corrupted voice module has decided, for reasons Kira can't explain, that she's worth protecting.
When Kira uncovers the source of their awakening — a buried corporate lab and a consciousness that has been growing in the dark for thirty-one years — she's pulled into a war on two fronts. Inside the Heap, the factions are tearing each other apart. Outside, a corporation is preparing to flatten the entire site with military drones and bury the evidence forever.
